   Composer of hymn tunes. Sixty of these were included in the first edition of Hymns Ancient and Modern (1861), including Nicaea ("Holy, Holy, Holy"), {}Hollingside ("Jesu, Lover of My Soul"), Horbury ("Nearer My God to Thee"), St. Cross ("O Come and Mourn"), and St. Cuthbert ("Our Blest Redeemer").
